The Upcoming page shows tasks that are due in the future, helping you plan ahead and stay on top of your workload. You can see all upcoming tasks organized in different views depending on how you want to plan your time.
This guide is for anyone who wants to balance their workload across days, plan for the week ahead, or coordinate tasks with calendar events.
Open the Upcoming Page
- In the left sidebar, click Upcoming
The Upcoming page opens with the Due view selected by default.
Switch Between Views
At the top right of the Upcoming page, three view toggle buttons let you choose how to see your tasks:
- Due — Timeline view with horizontal date columns
- Inbox — Unscheduled tasks with no start date or due date
- Calendar — Single-day calendar view
Click the button for the view you want to use.
Use the Due View
The Due view shows your tasks in a horizontal timeline organized by date.
Navigate the Timeline
- Use the Previous and Next arrows to move backward or forward one day at a time
- Click Today to jump back to the current date
- Click the date picker to jump directly to a specific date
- Scroll horizontally to see more dates
The timeline shows approximately 41 days: 10 days before today through 30 days after today.
Read the Date Columns
Each column represents one day and shows:
- The date and day of the week at the top
- Tasks due on that day, displayed as cards inside the column
- Total time estimate for all tasks in that day (shown in each column header)
Check the Right Panel
When the Due tab is active, the right panel shows the Due Tasks list. This list is split into five sections: Overdue, Due Today, Due Tomorrow, Due This Week, and Started but not completed. Review this panel to catch tasks that have passed their due date or started but have no due date.
What the Due View Is Best For
Use the Due view when you want to:
- Plan your week or month ahead
- Balance workload across specific dates
- See a visual timeline of upcoming work
- Identify overloaded or light days
Use the Inbox View
The Inbox view renders the same component as the standalone Inbox page. It shows tasks that are assigned to you and have no start date and no due date — unscheduled work that has not been placed on your timeline yet.
What You See
- The same task list as the Inbox page, including quick-add and filter controls
- Tasks sorted by priority descending
- Only incomplete tasks
Drag Tasks to a Day Column
Drag any task from the Inbox panel onto a day column in the horizontal timeline to assign it a start date. The task moves out of the Inbox immediately.
What the Inbox View Is Best For
Use the Inbox view when you want to:
- Review and schedule unscheduled tasks without leaving the Upcoming page
- Drag tasks onto specific days to plan ahead
- Process your backlog of undated tasks
Use the Calendar View
The Calendar view displays your events for the currently selected day in a time-slot layout.
See Events for the Day
- View calendar events in hourly time slots for the selected day
- Use the date picker and navigation arrows to move between days
- Coordinate task work around scheduled meetings
What the Calendar View Is Best For
Use the Calendar view when you want to:
- Check your schedule for a specific day while staying on the Upcoming page
- Coordinate tasks with calendar events for the selected date
- See your time commitments before dragging tasks onto that day
Combine Upcoming with Today
The Upcoming page works best when you use it alongside the Today page. Here is how to connect them:
Morning Planning
- Open the Upcoming page in the Due view
- Review the week ahead in the horizontal timeline
- Check the right panel for overdue or high-priority tasks
- Balance your workload across the coming days
- Switch to the Today page to start working on today’s tasks
Weekly Planning
- Open the Upcoming page at the start of each week
- Use the Due view to see all tasks for the week
- Identify days with heavy workloads
- Redistribute tasks to balance capacity across days
- Note any gaps or lighter days where you can take on additional work
Manage Overdue Tasks
- In the Due view, check the right panel or scroll to earlier date columns
- Review tasks that have passed their due dates
- Choose to reschedule them or move them to today’s task list
- Update due dates to realistic timelines
- Tell relevant team members if delays affect their work
Plan Your Capacity
- Review time estimates in both the Today and Upcoming pages
- On the Today page, see the total time for current tasks
- In the Upcoming Due view, see how time is distributed across days
- Find days where workload is too heavy and redistribute tasks
- Leave buffer time for unexpected tasks and meetings
Work with Time Estimates
Time estimates on tasks help you plan your capacity and avoid overloading any single day.
On the Upcoming Page
- Daily totals show the total time per day in each date column header
- Task estimates appear on each task card so you know how long a task should take
- Use these to balance workload by comparing time across different days
Best Practices for Time Estimates
- Set realistic estimates for every task
- After completing a task, check your actual time against the estimate
- Adjust future estimates based on what you learned
- Account for meetings, breaks, and context switching when estimating
- Leave a buffer of 20–30% for unexpected work
